The ramblings of a mid 40s idiot as he bumbles through life

A wise man once said that politics are like arseholes, no one wants to hear Ann Widdecombe’s. With that in mind I have been emailing my local MP with mixed results…

The first attempt was fairly simple.

As a life long Labour voter I wanted to reach out to try and understand the direction the party is currently taking.
With a majority and an election years away why are decisions being taken and statements being made to seemingly seduce and attract right wing and more specifically Reform voters?
The demonstrations outside of hotels are not born of “legitimate concerns” the flags being strewn across the land are not displays of patriotism.
They are vile right wing campaigns and even the merest bit of research shows this.
The role of the government should be to show these for what they are, quell the press and calm things down. Yet every day we have another moronic statement – today it’s digital ID cards to stop the boats.
How is this going to work? Who knows but it’ll  track well with the Daily Mail readers!
This is without the ridiculous Online Safety bill where no one can explain how using a VPN to work from home is fine but the same person using the same VPN to view perfectly legal adult material – which is of no concern to the government- is putting a child at risk.
Labour used to stand for good but each lurch right renders the party and its history null and void. Reform voters are never going to vote Labour, they’re never going to do it. Trying to appeal to them is only going to push people like me away.
I don’t want to and will not vote for a party that agrees with them on any front.

This was rejected immediately as I didn’t include my full contact details. But the anger that had caused me to write it had been quelled upon it being sent so I said fuck that and left it. And then Donald fucking Trump came to visit so I tried again.

As the heading suggests, this is the second attempt to communicate with you. The previous missive was written a few weeks ago but all the points still stand, but now we have the delightful addition of a nice couple of days of palling up to an increasingly openly fascistic president with not a single word of opposition or condemnation.
“Thanks”

This time I reluctantly included my full name and address and hoped for at least a standard copy/paste reply from our incumbent representative. Of course nothing happened so I tried once again a few weeks later, this one was a lot simpler and easy to follow and titled “third and final attempt at communicating with you” and it said…

I’ve joined the Green Party.

Once again I included my full contact details and once again I have heard nothing (as of yet) And I have joined the greens, I’m a fully paid up member and getting emails from them every few days. This country, the electorate, the Tories and even more so Labour deserve whatever happens next but I am not being bullied into holding my nose and voting for a party I no longer believe in and haven’t for a long time. Democracy shouldn’t and if we’re being honest doesn’t work like that. Labour can no longer rely on my vote with empty promises and idle threats when they do absolutely nothing with it. So fuck em.

This will be the only political post on here, we’ll be back to depression and nonsense again soon enough but that last email really made me giggle when I sent it
